Last night I was able to witness the greatest hour to hour change in RAW in recent memory. Last night, I saw the
elements that conmprise a great RAW and the events which lead to a garbage atypical RAW.
As of this point, I am unaware of the ratings, but I would bet a large sum of money that
RAW won and won big. The reason that I am guessing this is because the first hour of RAW
was absolutely phenomenal. In great contrast, the second hour was garbage.
From the minute RAW started, you could feel the intensity in the building. It was
obvious tha we were in for one exciting night and the McMahon interview at the beginning
heated the crowd up. Two huge matches were made at the beginning of the show:
Mankind vs. The Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Kane. What more big names
in big matches could you ask for on RAW. The WWF pounded the first hour of action in
for us and I loved it. In the first hour, we saw a great set up for which could now be
a Fatal Four Way Intercontinental Title Match. We saw good interviews like the
Corporation interview, we saw good matches like the Triple Threat Match, we saw sexual
scenes such as Ryan Shamrock and we saw angle development such as the
Ministry/Corporation feud and the Sable angle. The WWF gave a great first hour,
but the highlight of it had to be the Tag Team Title Match. In a fantastic match,
Owen and Jarrett fought DX. There were so many great moves in this match along with
heavy action and of course women. Debra, Ivory and PMS infiltrated the arena and I know
that no one will forget what was under Debra's robe. The first hour of RAW was
unbelievable and it set up what we would assume would be an even better second hour.
Well, that's what I thought and I'm sure that some of you thought it as well. But the
second half of RAW was crap. First of all, the WWF Title Match wasn't too bad, but it
led up to that brawl between Road Dogg, Snow and Holly. That brawl was stupid and
uneventful as it just kept interrupting with the rest of the action. The Brood kidnapping
of Flyboy was dumb and when he was found hung or something, it was even stupider. The
Kendo Stick Match wasn't that bad, but it had no heat and should've been in the first
hour instead. As the hardcore attcis continued to brawl in the back, we got to watch
Undertaker vs. Mankind for the cabillionth time. The match wasn't that bad at all, but
it ended with a double count out and then UNdertaker was attacked by the Big Boss Man.
So far, the second hour wasn't horrible, but it had nothing special and was just garbage.
It was boring an unoriginal, but I guess that it's easier to do a great job plugging
than to do a great job with what is plugged. Of course, just ask WCW. Anyway, RAW
concluded with a horrible main event that was just three minutes to long. It got very
redundant and it looked like it would never end. Paul Wight coming down wasn't a bad idea,
but it could have been done better. He shouldn't have ended up hitting Kane. In my
opinion, Austin should have done the job. It would have been more exicting and it would
have looked more and more like Wight really was going to screw Austin over at Wrestle
Mania. This also would have helped Kane's push and made the show better. Instead, RAW
ended with Austin trash talking someone and just giving them the middle finger; it end
like a garbage atypical RAW.br>
I would just like to say that the Wrestle Mania XV card is loking huger and huger and I
expect it to be better than I first thought. Here is the probable card:
-WWF Title Match: "The Rock" Rocky Maivia vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin with Paul Wight as the Special Guest Referee
-Intercontinental Title Match, Fatal Four Way Match: Val Venis vs. Badd Ass BIlly Gunn vs. Ken Shamrock vs. Goldust
-European Title Match: Shane McMahon vs. X-Pac
-Hardcore Title Match: Bob Holly vs. Road Dogg Jesse James
-Women's Title Match: Sable vs. Luna
-Hell in a Cell Match: The Undertaker vs. The Big Boss Man
-Brawl for All Match: Bart Gunn vs. Butterbean
-Six Person Mixed Tag Team Match: D-Lo Brown/Mark Henry/Ivory vs. Owen Hart/Jeff Jarrett/Debra McMichael
It will be very interesting to see how the WWF plugs their biggest PPV of Wrestle Mania and it will be very interesting to see if the WWF will deliver not only on March 28, but on all the RAWs to come. Thanks, MECCA.
